i've been seeing Lara Stone in every magazine, show, and ad campaign for some time. she has this almost sulky beauty that is really captivating. i did this painting based on an editorial titled "Les Diamants de Lara" from the august 2009 French Vogue issue (which coincidentally was entirely devoted to Ms. Stone). i liked the intimate style of the editorial - painting from it almost felt like a one-on-one portrait sitting with the actual subject.
