More Barclays Bank than Left Bank at Maison Martin Margiela

Like Jil Sander, Martin  Margiela left the building of his eponymous label a long time ago.  However, unlike Sander, there hasn’t been a name designer with the calibre of Raf Simons parachuted in to take control of the reins and keep the brand on course.  What we’re left with are blandly commercial collections which, whilst riffing on Margiela’s original vision, aren’t entirely convincing.
