As the opening act for London Fashion Week’s last six seasons Paul Costelloe has rarely put a foot wrong, and those of us (me included) who thought we had Costelloe’s number down as an Eighties relic best left to John Lewis are often forced to re-evaluate that opinion based on the inventive, youthful collections which he shows.

It's always difficult to have to kick off the first show for London Fashion Week.  It's set with the problems of getting press there, on time (well, relatively) and also encouraging any glitterati out to shore up your front row.  Hard on a cold February morning.

London Fashion Week - Day 1 - From Trad to Rad.

Paul Costelloe kicked off London Fashion Week with a strong, sassy collection that seemed younger, fresher and a whole lot more switched on that his past more mature collections.  The feel was light, airy 1950's chic meets Edwardian biker lady, with the emphasis firmly on lady.  This is a collection for real ladies who lunch and their younger sisters.
